What Does An Artist Do All Day?
DAY ELEVEN

DAY ELEVEN 〰️
15/08/2022 07:22 – DAY ELEVEN
I like Mondays. It is my day for setting out the week ahead. My clean canvas, until I remember all the things I should have done last weeks that I now need to carry forward to this week. The dreaded TDL (To Do List) is starting to look very green. Green being the colour of overdue tasks. Mondays are also a ‘day off’ or an indulgence day if I have the time. Monday is the day I have named ‘Monday Mention’ because it is the day I usually indulge in looking at other artists’ works or doing some CPD (Continuing Professional Development). Sometimes I will post a social media mention of what I have been doing. I ought to make the ‘Monday Mention’ a regular feature of my posts. Some time ago, last year at some point, I mentioned Joan Eardley and spoke about my admiration for her work. I had fully intended going to see an exhibition of her works celebrating 100 years since her birth. I have not managed to do this yet and the Eardley exhibition in Edinburgh ends this Sunday. How can I fit this in before it ends on 21 August? Today? Well I could take the bus. Free to me as I am a ‘senior’ with a bus pass. Not that I have used my bus pass since my mother passed away, some months before Covid put paid to a lot of travelling. If it is the bus then it has to be today. That will mess up my plans for today though. Work takes over Tuesday to Saturday so that only leaves Sunday as the only other available day. Bus travel is always more difficult on a Sunday. However, I could perhaps drive to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. I could, perhaps, drive there tomorrow after my morning meeting. Now that is perhaps the best option. My ‘carrot’ perhaps as the reward for completing all the tasks I have set for today. I will also try to fit in a bit of artwork today but not sure what that will be yet. Perhaps make a start on the large canvas, already gridded, waiting on the easel in the Gallery.
